Sankashti Chaturthi Puja Method
- Efforts are made to please Ganapati by fasting on the day of Sankashti Chaturthi. On this day wake up early in the morning before sunrise and take bath and wear clean clothes. It is very auspicious to wear red colored clothes on this day. Now start the worship of Ganapati. Take special care of the direction while worshiping Ganapati. On this day the person should keep his face towards east or north direction. Now decorate the Ganpati idol nicely with flowers.
- Keep sesame, jaggery, laddoos, flowers, water, incense, sandalwood, banana or coconut in a copper urn in the worship of Ganapati. It is considered very auspicious to keep an idol or statue of Goddess Durga near at the time of worship. Now apply rolli to Ganapati and offer flowers and water to him. On the day of Sankashti, offer sesame laddoos and modaks to Bappa. Chant the following mantra by lighting a lamp. ‘Gajanan Bhoot Ganadi Sevitam, Kapittha Jambu Phal Charu Bhakshanam. Umasutam Shok Vinashkarkam, Namami Vighneshwar Pad Pankajam..’
